  20. Will these sunglasses make me look like Brad Pitt?
  1. Are these the actual sunglasses that Brad Pitt (as Tyler Durden) wears in Fight Club?

Our sunglasses have been designed to look like those that Brad Pitt (as Tyler Durden) wears in Fight Club, to almost exact specification—but NO, our sunglasses are not those worn by Pitt in the movie. The sunglasses in the movie were designed and made by Oliver Peoples, model name: OP-523.

  2. What are Oliver Peoples OP-523s? Are Paper Street’s sunglasses the same thing?

The Oliver Peoples OP-523 is the infamous frame/ sunglass model from Fight Club. Although Brad Pitt wears three different types of sunglasses in the movie (all by Oliver Peoples: the Aero, the OP 523, and the Sunset, respectively), the OP-523 is by far and away the most famous (and, as it turns out, most impossible to find).

Paper Street’s shades have been designed to look nearly identical to the OP-523s (the big red ones that Tyler wears), but please note that our sunglasses are not made or endorsed by Oliver Peoples.

  3. Why would I buy Paper Street’s sunglasses when I can buy the original OP-523?

The short answer is: you can't buy the OP-523. According to OP-523 lore (and confirmed by current employees at Oliver Peoples), the last known US release of the OP-523 was in 2001, possibly even 2000. The frames have been sold out, almost literally since the movie came out in 1999, and are next to impossible to find. If you're the globe-trotting type, reports have it that the OP-523s are released in Japan in minor batches every few years: we can confirm a 2005 release and more recently a 2008 release (to celebrate the firms 20 years of operation).

To make matters more difficult, if you are able to find the actual OP-523, you’re not going to be able to get the lens color that Tyler has. The notorious Gothic Rose was produced for one pair (possibly two?) and one pair only: Brad Pitt's. The lenses were dyed and tinted specially to match the color of Tyler's jacket. That color was truly one of a kind... until now: Paper Street Shades brings you its own version of Gothic Rose...

So if you can find the originals, good luck... until then, Paper Street Shades is the only known operation that has perfect Tyler glasses!

  4. How can I be sure that these sunglasses have been designed to match those from Fight Club?

Paper Street’s shades were designed using the latest technology to match the dimensions of the sunglasses Tyler wears in Fight Club. In fact, if you would like to put us to the visual test, check out a photo of one of our first buyer’s comparisons between Paper Street’s shades and the original Oliver Peoples OP 523.

  5. What color lens tints does Paper Street offer?

Paper Street is excited to offer 2 lens tints: Smoke and Gothic Rose. Both colors can be seen in the movie (the Smoke when we first meet Tyler in the airport along the moving walkway, the Gothic Rose throughout the rest of the movie).

  6. Is Paper Street selling tinted-lens pairs individually?

Unfortunately, we are not selling individual lens pairs at this time. There is a chance we may change this policy in the future, but for now, we are only selling complete pairs of glasses (frame and lenses).

  7. Are these the same color lenses that Tyler Durden wears in Fight Club?

Our lenses are as close to the original Gothic Rose as anything ever produced. As the lenses Tyler wore were truly one of a kind (they were specifically dyed to match his jacket), it’s impossible to say if these are a perfect match. But check out our photos to see for yourself: our lens tints are borderline perfect.

  8. How can I order a pair of your sunglasses?

Simply by clicking the "BUY NOW" button you see on the right side of our website.

  11. Even though Paper Street is based in the USA, does it ship internationally?

Paper Street is willing to ship anywhere in the world, but for international buyers, it will be at your expense. Paper Street Shades has TWO RULES when it comes to shipping internationally:

    • All shades are shipped via air and have DOOR TO DOOR tracking information (which you will have access to the minute we ship so that you can track your package(s) status).
    • Once the shades leave the USA, they are no longer the responsibility of Paper Street Shades (unless the shipping company fails to complete delivery). So, if your home country charges duties and taxes, those costs will be the international buyer’s responsibility.
  12. How much is shipping? Can I choose different tiers of shipping (expedited vs. standard)?

Shipping costs will vary based on buyers location. Continental USA shipping will most likely always be under $20 (includes tracking and insurance). International shipping will vary more widely. Minimum shipping to Europe is $50, and likely more depending on your specific location.

Paper Street Shades has a tool that will automatically calculate expected shipping costs for you, based on your location.

  13. Are the sunglasses insured during shipping?

Absolutely. All sunglass shipments are fully insured so that we can guarantee your glasses arrive in perfect condition, and if not, you’re fully covered. If your glasses arrived damaged, it will be Paper Street Shades’ responsibility to follow-up with the shipper and either refund you entire purchase or ship you a new pair at no additional cost.

  14. How does Paper Street protect its sunglasses from damage during shipping?

Our shades will be professionally packaged to ensure safe delivery. In addition, all our shades come with a HARD CASE and LENS CLOTH as part of the purchase, so rest assured that your packaged with arrive in perfect condition!

  15. Does Paper Street have a warranty on its sunglasses?

Design and manufacturing flaws will be treated with the utmost diligence and care, and in almost every case, Paper Street will be more than willing to repair and possibly even replace your glasses.

Keep in mind that the general “wear and tear” scratches and blemishes will not be covered by our warranty. If you decide to join a Fight Club and participate while wearing your shades, we can’t promise we’ll cover the damage.

If you sit on them, at least make up a fantastic story that didn’t involve you sitting on them, and we’ll take it from there on a case by case basis.

  16. Are Paper Street's lenses UV protected?

Absolutely. Our shades are 100% UV ray protected.

  17. What are the materials from which Paper Street's sunglasses are made?

Our lenses are made of high density acrylic (100% UV protected), and our frames are metal. Both are of extremely high quality and have been stress tested to high standards.

  18. I've bent/scratched/broken/smashed my sunglasses... is there anything Paper Street can do for me?

Email us... we'll treat these on a case by case basis.

  19. I think Tyler Durden is the coolest, does Paper Street know of any other place to get Tyler clothes or paraphernalia?

Tyler's costume was hand-picked, vintage clothing that, for the most part, are one-of-a-kind pieces. That said, with a bit of diligence, you'll be able to find some cool duds yourself if you check out your local vintage store.
